Burkina Faso's President Ousted

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

November 2nd, 2014.

After nearly three decades in power, civil unrest brought Blaise Compaore down from power. To fill in the power void Burkina Faso’s military backed Lt. Col. Isaac Zida as head of state, a decision made at the Camp Guillaume Ouedraogo military barracks.

Demonstrators disagree with the nomination of a member of the army as a head of state. Furthermore, it is not only that they do not want a military man as the head of the government; they specifically do not want anyone who had part in the previous government such as the current lt. Zida who was connected with the RSP (Régiment de la sécurité présidentielle), the presidential security corps.
