www.carmel-assembly.org.il/womens-shelter.html: The women's shelter is a home where God's love and mercy is extended to women who are going through difficult circumstances - domestic abuse, crisis pregnancies, and severe economic situations. For the past few years, our doors have been open to refugees from Darfur, southern Sudan, and Eritrea who have suffered the horrors of war and genocide, and are seeking refuge.

Many of the women come to us pregnant and with young children as their husbands are imprisoned in their own countries or here in Israel. We also care for children who were forcefully separated from their parents while crossing the border from Egypt.

Our desire is to provide a place where these women and children can receive the warmth and love of a family, to know they are safe and can find the refuge they so desperately need. The shelter is directed by Rita Tsukahira and is run by a hard-working staff of Jewish and Arab believers.
