Despite the adverse weather, Bulgarians celebrated the anniversary of the liberation of their land from Ottoman domination as signed on the Treaty of San Stefano the 3rd of March of 1878.

Celebrations started with the flag raising in the morning through the night, closing with a solemn review of the troops under constant rain.
